This product looks great on my deck. My cat is getting used to it. It's a good size and design. It's relatively easy to put together, and the instructions are somewhat helpful. Very well packaged for shipment. But it's made so cheaply, I don't think it will last too long. I'm glad mine is somewhat protected from the elements so I might get a few years out of it. If totally exposed to the weather, I doubt it would last more than a year or so. But for the price, I didn't expect much more.This was probably the worst product I’ve purchased from Amazon. And I’ve bought some duds. Some other people may have had good experiences, but this particular cat house was carelessly made. The little balcony overhang on the side pushes into the ship lap and it bends inwards when the cat is on it and will break quite soon. Easy to put together, but everything is flimsy and honestly…again…just carelessly made.Was definitely hard for me to put together but only because I'm pregnant and kinda weak right now. Other than that, it's so cute, the smaller cats aren't used to it yet but I'm sure they'll love it. Too bad my fat cat can't fit in it lolThis is a pretty shelter and looks very attractive in the yard. It was super easy to put together. It was well packed and arrived safely. It is fairly sturdy - will have to see how long it survives in the elements. I purchased on outdoor heating pad that I laid with a town inside the bottom shelter. The cats started using it the day I put it outside - and just in time for a bitter freeze. So I'm very happy with the little cottage. I have three critiques that the manufacturer could easily remedy:1. There are no escape doors. There are 2 doors but neither shelter area has a second door for the pet to escape in case a racoon decides to pay a visit. They would be trapped inside. Most outdoor shelters (and this is meant to be an outdoor shelter according to the description and the roofing material) have escape doors. I cut 2 small doors (5"x6") into the back of the shelter. It was fairly easy to do and so far the shelter has held up.2. There are no door flaps to keep the draft out. These aren't necessary like the escape hatches, but I am buying some vinyl to add my own.3. The pieces came with fiberglass all over them - little fine hairs/rods of clear debris. I used gloves to assemble it so as not to get this on my hands.The wood quality is decent but the absolute best. It did have an interesting smell to it though. The colors are really pretty. It was pretty straight forward to put together. I would recommend using a drill gun because not all the pets had holes and I had to create new holes into the wood. It took probably an hour with the help of my husband to put together. My cat is a bit bigger (14 pounds) and he has a hard time squeezing into all the opening so he just sits on the roof and the cat house can support his weight of him jumping off and on the cat house which is great. Overall, it’s a great product that my cat has been throughly enjoying.My cats seem to like this shelter. However the top story has a large entrance on the side top. It is where my cats like to enter the cat shelter, but there is no plastic cover/flap to keep the wind and fain out.
