I've ordered two different ones of these by this manufacturer and each had the same problem which is the pads that were provided only fasten to the units via four little velcro tabs. Considering those pads that sit atop all the platforms is all the cat has to grab onto to pull themselves up, velcro is not adequate at all. My cats fell several times attempting to ascend to the top but the platforms are so spread out and the pads so poorly attached that jumping only kicked out the pad they were on, and climbing the posts was even worse because once they got to the platform they had to reach around to the top and grab on to pull themselves around and each time the pad ripped off and sent them reeling towards the floor.This problem is easily fixed however simply by putting heavy duty canvas style snaps on the pads and platforms. which I have now done on my two units. But the fact is out of the box and without modification these are not safe for any cat to be using. But aside from that one glaring problem, the units are otherwise decently constructed, albeit a little small based in my opinion, resulting in them being kinda wobbly since they are so tall. This is another issue I'll be addressing on my units by adding another footer board that will actually be cut to fit both of my units on the same platform arranged in an L configuration to occupy an empty corner of the room, thus making both of the units MUCH more stable being tied together as one.But this I'm sure not everyone will want to do, so do with that information what you will.I leave it up to your own discretion if you'd like to consider this a good review or a negative one, because it's sorta both.I personally was willing to overlook its shortcomings because it's overall aesthetics were what we where looking for, and I'm capable of performing the necessary modifications to make them safe for the animals. But I know not everyone is setup to start making changes to things right out of the box, so if that's you, then I'd consider looking elsewhere for a unit that is fully wrapped.If you do still want to get these and perform the same modification to the pads I did, you can find the snaps by searching (B09SM5WGGF) here on amazon and that will take you straight to the product I used. Bearing in mind, the tools you'll need are a hammer and a hole punch such as (B09SM5WGGF). Both I had on hand. Making this upgrade only cost 10 bucks for me, but could run as much as 20+ if you're not already equipped with the proper tools.So ultimately it's your decision, hopefully the information I've provided here will help you make a informed decision one way or the other.
