I picked this unit as well as a Kohler and Kraus bottle trap for side by side comparisons for installation into our half bath I was remodeling. This Decolav certainly has a unique appearance in terms of its slender presence viewed head on, and aerodynamic-like profile. But there were a couple of things that caused me to nix is in favor of the Kohler bottle trap, despite the generous cost savings. For one, the bronze finish is dark and entirely uniform, which in and of itself could be a good thing, except that it totally didn't match the oil rubbed bronze finish on the rest of our lav hardware. Obviously, this isn't a universal criticism, but be aware of that if you're trying to match a rubbed finish from another vendor.Secondly, compared to both the Kohler and Kraus traps, this one just felt... weightless. It didn't really impress me with the quality of materials as judged by heft and even depth of finish. The connection between the trap and the trap arm seemed a little limp. Overall, it just didn't strike me a great design.Lastly, there's no cleanout. This detail escaped me until I saw it on the other two. In the event of a clog, the Kohler unit I ended up choosing features a removable underside plug that allows direct access to the inner workings, which is almost a necessity since these traps can't be snaked. That final detail sealed this trap's fate, and I sealed it up in a box with an Amazon return label on it.I never got this to work and replaced it with a high-end U-joint trap. U-joints have play in all three dimensions because you can rotate the U portion to adjust laterally. Be aware that your wall opening must be exactly lined up with the sink drain for this or any other bottle trap to work.We installed these in our master bath as we used a floating granite countertop with vessel glass sinks. The only thing we had to do was buy a longer pipe because the one that came with it was not long enough for our very open design. Although our local big box store had these for cheaper, they were also a cheaper looking (and feeling) product so I'm happy to buy them through Amazon and pay more for something that's going to last longer. This bottle trap comes packaged like a Coach handbag!!It has its own drawstring cloth pouch.I did not think any compamy cared for their products like this anymore. It was lovely to open the box and unwrap the item. The quality is very, very high - it feels like silk.It looks amazing under my vessel sink.It is very neat and slimlined.I just love it.Looks great and was able to get this stealthy trap up high enough that under my daughters cabinet is mostly free now for towels and other assorted stuff otherwise not available to you with a traditional trap that takes up much of the under the sink cabinet space. It is also a very solid build too! Jody KovalReviews well
